Hawkins Masonic Village

Hawkins Retirement Village is an existing aged care facility comprising of 131 residential care beds and 215 retirement living units.
The Royal Freemasons’ Benevolent Institution (RFBI) engaged Planix to manage the redevelopment of existing facility to Design and Construct a new building for up to 80 RACF residents consisting of four households of up to 20 single bed and ensuite rooms with community spaces to including hair and beauty, cafe, gym, allied health and Community Hall.
Planix worked closely with design and services consultants to develop a comprehensive Project Brief that considers the broader village Masterplan and compile the Principle’s Project Requirements for all the services for the project.
The project consisted of the following works:
• Household design of between 18 and 20 RACF single bed and ensuite
• Each household to function independently in case of outbreak and or isolation
• Front of house (FOH) corridors to enter households into inviting central living space, not through a resident space but directly to living space
• Back of house (BOH) corridors to service households with handover space for isolation and infection control, access to household BOH rooms with minimum cross over with resident areas
• Café with access from reception/public area, outdoor space
• Hairdresser 
• Gym
• Dementia monitoring/sensors available in room
• Incorporate intuitive wayfinding, sensory, paths and walkways
• Community hall/gathering space/multifunctional space for at least 150 people
• Maintenance storage facilities adjacent to services area of main RACF
